The Story Behind Sarah's Birds
Welcome, and thank you for visiting our website. We are passionate about the hobby of bird watching, and are a resource for serious bird watchers. The inspiration behind this company was my mother, Sarah. She was born on March 24th, 1949 in St. Louis, Missouri. Her father, Walter, was a St. Louis Cardinals fan, and because of that, Cardinals have been a representation of our family.
My Grandfather passed away in 2013. When all our family gathered to celebrate his life, a male Cardinal immediately made an appearance. My mother passed away in August of 2018 after a 10yr battle with Alzheimer’s. I told her I wanted a sign that would be obvious she was in a better place. Every day after, a female Cardinal began showing up. I knew I had to buy a bird feeder and start feeding the birds.
I soon began to learn all about birds and their various habits. I also saw the importance of purchasing the best possible bird seed. I used to think all bird seed was the same, but boy was I wrong. I began experimenting with various seeds and blends and it became obvious, birds absolutely know the difference between premium quality and big box store quality. Having always wanted to own my own business, I had found my passion and inspiration.
I started Sarah’s Backyard Birds in order to honor my mother and to provide Middle Tennessee with the best possible bird seed. Every single one of our blends is my own personal formula. You won’t find it anywhere else. Each blend gives you various options for what your bird feeding goals are. In order to create these beautiful blends, I use premium screened, cleaned, and NON-GMO seeds delivered fresh from Des Moines, Iowa.
Another great aspect about our business is that we deliver throughout Middle Tennessee. Our primary locations are Davidson, Rutherford, Williamson, and Wilson County. No more running to the store and having to carry large bags of bird seed to and from your vehicle. You order and we deliver right to your door! We also offer gift items as well as bird feeders.
